Puerto Vallarta is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico. If you are planning to spend your holidays in this beautiful town then you should be aware of how to get around in Puerto Vallarta without any hassles.

Travelling in Puerto Vallarta is easy and cheap. For tourists taxi and buses are two popular modes depending on convenience and budget.

Taxis – Taxis can be seen everywhere and anytime in Puerto Vallarta. Taxis are very convenient and cheap as long as you ask driver the price before boarding the taxi. It will be very difficult to negotiate at the end of the journey. Ask your hotel staff and acquaintances about fair prices before embarking on a trip so that you have an idea. Do not let the driver suggest you any restaurant because he may be getting commission fomr them. Always stick to your plan.

Buses - The buses are another mode of convenient and cheap transport. Buses in Puerto Vallarta are privately owned and efficient. The bus ride can be a bit exotic as a street entertainer may get in to bus and sing songs!

Bus signs are blue with a picture of a bus and the word “parada” which stands for a bus stop. Buses marked “Centro” go to downtown and on to Olas Altas while the buses marked “Tunnel” take the bypass to Olas Altas (thus avoiding downtown PV), buses to the airport are marked “Ixtapa,” “Juntas,” or “Las Palmas.”, buses to the Marina, Pitillal, Mismaloya, Nuevo Vallarta and Punta de Mita are marked accordingly. Buses going south to Mismaloya or Boca de Tomatlán depart from Calle Constitucion and Basilio de Badillo.
